Do you need mold remediation?

Mold is a health risk and a threat to your home's structure

Mold in your home can pose health risks, particularly for people with respiratory problems. According to the Institute of Medicine, dampness and mold are linked to allergies, coughing, upper respiratory symptoms and asthma.

Mold also damages the materials it grows on, from attic sheathing to subfloors, which can lower your home's value. With the Puget Sound's long, damp season, attics and crawl spaces are where we find it most. A professional remediation inspects the home, finds the source and removes the mold, then takes steps to keep it from coming back.

Why the Puget Sound is prone to mold

Long, damp winters, mild temperatures and homes closed up against the cold all raise indoor humidity. Warm air from the house condenses on cold attic sheathing, bathroom fans sometimes vent into the attic, and crawl spaces without a vapor barrier pull moisture up from the soil. Fixing those sources is part of every remediation.

Our process

How we remediate mold

It's impossible to remove every mold spore from an indoor environment. Remediation brings out-of-control growth back to normal levels and addresses the cause so it doesn't happen again.

  • Testing: air, settled dust or surface samples to find and confirm mold
  • Containment: plastic barriers and negative air pressure keep spores from spreading
  • Removal: HEPA vacuuming and air scrubbing, cleaning, and removal of materials that can't be saved
  • Drying: dehumidifiers and air movers bring materials back to safe moisture levels
  • Repair: damaged materials replaced and the area restored
  • Prevention: the leak, ventilation or moisture source fixed

“I had a fantastic experience working with the Attic Crew. The fact that they are a one stop shop for clean up, rodent control and insulation made everything so simple and seamless. Their bid was competitive and their quality is excellent. This is definitely the company you want to work with.”

★★★★★
“The Attic Crew delivered just what they said they'd deliver. The attic was sealed off to protect against rodents, vapor barrier was installed in the crawl space, the crew arrived on time and finished by the end of the day and the price came in as promised. It does not get any better than this.”
Shiloh J.Google review
★★★★★
“We moved into a new home that had rodents in the attics. Attic Crew was respectful, polite, and well-priced. Zabi was the Project Manager for our project and he takes such great joy in his work. He spent hours making sure all entry points were sealed and provided before and after photos. He used top tier insulation and cleaned our attic spaces to perfection.”

Common questions

Mold Remediation FAQ

Can I clean up mold myself?

Small areas of surface mold on hard surfaces can often be cleaned by a homeowner. Larger areas, mold in an attic or crawl space, mold that keeps coming back or mold after water damage should be handled by professionals with containment and the right equipment.

Do you test for mold?

Yes. Testing can find spores suspended in the air, in settled dust or growing on building materials and furnishings. We'll recommend testing when it will change what needs to be done.

Why does mold keep coming back?

Because the moisture that feeds it is still there. Remediation always includes finding and fixing the source, whether that's a leak, a bath fan venting into the attic, poor ventilation or a damp crawl space.

Is attic mold common in the Seattle area?

Yes. In our long, damp winters, warm air from the house condenses on cold roof sheathing, and poor ventilation lets it stay wet. It often shows up as dark staining on the underside of the roof deck.

Is the inspection free?

Yes. We inspect, photograph what we find and give you a firm written quote, with no obligation.
