Keeping rats and mice out of Sammamish homes

Homes built right up against forest and wetlands on the Sammamish Plateau see mice, rats and other wildlife looking for a way in. Rodents only need a gap smaller than an inch, and vents, eaves and pipe openings are the usual way in.

Most Sammamish homes were built from the 1980s on, often large two-story houses with big attics and long duct runs.

Attic Crew rodent-proofs homes across Sammamish, from Pine Lake, Klahanie, Trossachs and Sahalee. We inspect the attic, roof line, crawl space and exterior, seal every entry point with steel mesh, sheet metal and concrete, and remove droppings, nests and contaminated insulation.

Know the signs

Signs of a rodent infestation

You may never see them, but rodents leave plenty of evidence. If you notice any of these, book an inspection.

Droppings

Even if you don't see rodents, you'll find what they leave behind along joists, insulation and storage boxes.

Chewed wires & wood

Rats and mice chew insulation, electrical wiring and framing, which can create a fire hazard.

Noises at night

Scratching, scraping and thumping in the attic or walls, usually after dark.

Damaged insulation

Tunnels, nests and flattened patches in the insulation overhead.

Musty or foul odors

A stale, ammonia-like smell from urine, nesting material or a dead animal.

Exterior damage

Gnawed vents, torn screens and gaps around pipes, eaves and the roof line.

Structural sealing

How we rodent-proof your home

When we rodent-proof, we seal the structure: every point of entry in the attic, on the roof, in the crawl space and all the way around the property, using materials rodents cannot chew through.

  • Inspect every level of the home for entry points and activity
  • Seal openings with steel mesh, sheet metal, concrete, wood and expanding foam
  • Re-screen foundation, gable and roof vents with heavy-gauge mesh
  • Close gaps around pipes, cables and AC lines
  • Remove droppings and nesting material, then sanitize
  • Replace contaminated insulation if needed

“We moved into a new home that had rodents in the attics. Attic Crew was respectful, polite, and well-priced. Zabi was the Project Manager for our project and he takes such great joy in his work. He spent hours making sure all entry points were sealed and provided before and after photos. He used top tier insulation and cleaned our attic spaces to perfection.”

Common questions

Rodent proofing in Sammamish: FAQ

Do you serve all of Sammamish?

Yes. Our crews work throughout Sammamish and King County, including Pine Lake, Klahanie, Trossachs, Sahalee and Beaver Lake, from our Renton office.

How soon can you come out?

We respond quickly. Call 425-675-1721 or send the form and we'll schedule your free inspection at a time that works for you.

How do rats get into my attic?

Usually through openings at the roof line: damaged vent screens, gaps at the eaves and spaces around chimney or plumbing pipes. Rodents can squeeze through openings smaller than an inch, so we inspect the attic, roof, crawl space and exterior.

What materials do you use to seal entry points?

Materials rodents can't chew through: galvanized steel mesh, sheet metal, concrete and wood. Expanding foam is used for small gaps and as a backer, not on its own.

Do you clean up droppings and damaged insulation?

Yes. We remove droppings and nesting material, sanitize the area, and can remove and replace contaminated insulation in the same visit.
